![]() Just go to youtube and watch RBR with the recent new physics modification. However there is no sense in arguing about this my fellow. Strange isn´t it? Allegedly just sold 5 copies and allegedly has "moon" physics and yet it has the biggest online community in the ofroad genre with more active players than this game here probably will ever manage to sell. ![]() People who think the game is actually realistic have clearly never driven a real car in anger. RBR fan updated is a feat, impressive how long the cult classic has lasted and held its fandom, but it sold like 5 copies and the playerbase while loyal is tiny. But the moon physics in RBR are hardly realistic, and the quality/resolution of the actual surfaces are also primitive. Originally posted by Bigbazz:How is RBR far from outdated? It's extremely dated, we were making fun of the tarmac physics in RBR in 2009, but it had great offroad physics for the time. Every corner has a grip level and speed, if I arrive at that speed or just below it, turn in/throw the car in before the corner, I can stabilize it, control the slip angle with the throttle and hit the apex nicely. I've since changed my driving approach to one of. they are a bit oversensitive in balance, ie the polar moment of inertia is a bit too high on most cars. When I was following the developer blogs, they said they actually spent a lot of time, trying to prefect the rotation of the car. The physics for now, results in lots of under steer, at least for me anyhow. The rotation is a little difficult to achieve and harder to control between too much over steer, or too little, which can cause the car to snap from over steer to under steer. My issue is getting the car to rotate to create over steer. Having said that Dirt Rally is a much better game. The handling physics are for me quiet similar to D4. I suspect the balancing of car weight and tyre grip is more difficult than we know. IMO there is also an issue with the brakes locking up far to easily. The handling physics also seem a little off in the rally stages, which IMO are much better in the Rally Cross events. I hope they patch this issue soon as for now the FFB is worse than Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally 1.0. For now only the cattle grids and big bumps can be felt though my G29 wheel and that was only after editing the xml file and lots of tweaking the in game FFB settings. As for the FFB, that does need some improvement to increase the feedback from the track surface. This means that one hit can crush the car with serious damage, and multiple hits will crumple the car beyond recognition.ĭue to the fact that the game is not intended for this to be done, and it is not soft-body things can look pretty funky at times!īecause the visual car damage can become so extreme, the offsetting of the wheels triggers mechanical damage which will bring the car to a halt in realistic fashion.I would first like to say that I really do like Dirt Rally 2.0. Wheel locking, steering disconnection, rotational friction and wobble significantly increased on wheel damageĮffects of Engine and Gearbox damage significantly increasedĪll vehicles have had the maximum allowed deformation per damage "pulse" increased to the full range of deformation. Radiator durability increased (it was set to made-from-paper by default)ĭriveshaft maximum friction when damaged increased alot There are two components, the Mechanical Damage changes (inside the raceload.jpk file and the visual car deformation changes (inside the Cars folder).Īll individual component Major Damage chance at 100%Īll individual component Minor Damage chance at 50% WYDDC for Dirt Rally creates a much more devastating damage system for custom races / matches that will have you sweating in no time! Open the "Originals" folder inside the download, and copy the Cars folder, and raceload.jpk to your Dirt Rally installation (replace files) Installing these files will disable anything saving to your profile (such as campaign progress, and purchases) and should not be used online!Įxtract the Cars folder, and raceload.jpk file to your Dirt Rally installation (replace the files) The most brutal damage simulation you could possibly ask for, right in Dirt Rally!
